The Society will now be offering Historic Distric plaques that were originally created by the Old Worthington Association.  This plaque celebrates the recognition of the Worthington Historic District placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior on April 13th, 2010. It was commissioned by the Old Worthington Association and is now being offered for purchase by the Worthington Historical Society.
Anyone can purchase the plaque from the Historical Society. It serves to call attention to the Worthington Historic District, bounded by Morning, Evening, North and South Streets. There are 450 properties within the historic district, with 87% designated as contributing. Contributing properties meet the Ohio History Connection’s test for significance that defines a historic district. Those remaining, for various reasons – most often built date – cannot be labeled as contributing but remain an integral part of the district and should be marked.
If you are outside the historic district, your purchase is welcomed and appreciated! It helps support the mission of the Historical Society to preserve Worthington’s historical assets and provide educational opportunities regarding the city’s rich and interesting history.
Plaques are $100.00.
